Home visits

Discreet home visits allow a high degree of privacy and security for clients. This service is offered for locations in London only. Typically this mode of therapy is useful for clients that are worried about attending a therapy setting. This could be due to a high profile status and/or mental health difficulties that make it hard to travel outside.

The first step is to have an initial 50 minute consultation (charged at £135) to discuss what has brought you to counselling.

How it works?

I understand that your first session can feel daunting and that taking that first step is often one of the hardest moments in your counselling journey. I am confident that we can develop a trusting and safe relationship in which you can work through many of the difficulties that you are facing in life. Your journey is something that we embark upon together.

What do you offer?

Meeting regularly, typically once per week, gives you a balance of support as well as the time to process and make sense of your growing changes and experiences. Face-to-face session last 50 minutes and my fee is £190 per session.

Note: Our first session is a 50 minute consultation and is charged at £135.

Return to sender

Have you ever felt unfairly attacked? Maybe someone says something to you, something without any basis, something unfair.  We know it’s untrue, unfair but nonetheless it causes us to feel upset, hurt, and we carry it around, maybe for a few hours, a few days, even for years. Well, how about trying to return it to the sender.

I’m not talking about retaliation, but rather a recognition that some feelings are not ours to begin with.   Often when people attack us unfairly they are expressing something inside them, maybe stress, maybe hopelessness, something they can’t tolerate.  So they thrust the feeling onto others, its unpleasant, they can’t hold it. It comes out, out perhaps at you.  The problem is that we can let this penetrate us, we take it on, suddenly we are feeling irritated or angry. We are feeling what they have projected into us.

Understanding that this doesn’t belong to us allows us the capacity to send it back outwards or perhaps even for it to bounce off us like a force field.  What we are talking about here in psychotherapeutic terms is our personal boundary.

Developing an awareness of our personal boundary allows us to move through life without being penetrated by other people’s negative emotions. This starts with an awareness of what’s ours and what is theirs.  Why not try this the next time you are attacked?  Take a breath, ground yourself with your breath, then question who was really angry or attacking? was it me or was is them.

Often therapeutic work can involve unravelling some of these penetrations from the past, those that have been stuck in us for a long time.  Those that we then confuse with being ours, being part of us. Some of the work in therapy is to put this back where it belongs, to return it to the sender.

Couples

Couples therapy is run by my practice associate, Ms Mateja Brvar (see https://matejatherapy.co.uk). Mateja has been working in the mental field for over 20 years. She has extensive experience within the NHS, community outreach and health charities. If you are looking for a safe and experienced therapist for your relationship difficulties then do not hesitate to contact her.

Outdoor therapy

Perhaps the idea of counselling in a traditional counselling room is not something that you want. For some people, it can feel easier and less threatening to meet and talk in a public space rather than a counselling room. Outdoor counselling involves walking or sitting in an outdoor setting, surrounded by nature and out in the world. This is a naturally socially distanced setting. Furthermore, much counselling work can be accomplished in this environment.

How does it work?

Before the session we would have a chat over the phone, Zoom or Skype and discuss your needs along with where and when we meet. This initial consultation is charged at £45 and lasts around 50 minutes.

We would then meet at a public location (typically outside local transport hubs) and make a short walk to a local park where we would begin our session. The outdoor spaces that I use for this style of counselling offer quite seated locations, open parkland, trees and secluded areas. We would explore your issues, at your pace, in the areas that you find most valuable.

Locations that I currently offer sessions are SE10 (Greenwich park) or SE19 (Crystal Palace).

How much does it cost?

Our first session is a 50 minute consultation and is charged at £45. Ongoing session are charged according to location, £75 South Norwood, £75 Greenwich and £115 Canary Wharf.
